abstract

abstract objective: evaluating the usefulness of the triple test score (tts) in breast lesions. materials and methods: medical records of 100 cases were evaluated and tts was calculated based on of physical examination, mammography and fine-needle aspiration cytology findings. the diagnostic value of tts was assessed according to histopathology results. results: of the 23 lesions with score of 5, which considered as suspicious, 7 were benign and 16 were malignant. tts less than or equal to 4 has a specificity of 100% and tts greater than or equal to 6 has a sensitivity of 100%. conclusion: the tts reliably guides evaluation and treatment of breast lesions. tts 3 or 4 are always benign and breast lesions with scores greater than or equal to 6 are malignant and should be treated accordingly.

MODIFIED TRIPLE TEST SCORE (MTTS) FOR EVALUATION OF PALPABLE BREAST MASSES IN WOMEN UNDER AGE 40

ABSTRACT Background: Evaluation of breast masses in women under 40 years old starts with a Triple Test Score (TTS) which is composed of clinical breast examination, mammography and fine needle aspiration. Increased breast density in this age group decreases the sensitivity of mammography. So deciding whether to biopsy such nondiagnostic lesions or not is subject to challenge. Breast masses up ...

Accurate evaluation of palpable breast masses by the triple test score.

BACKGROUND We previously reported that the triple test (physical examination, mammography, and fine needle aspiration) for palpable breast masses yields 100% diagnostic accuracy when all 3 components are concordant (all benign or all malignant). However, 40% of cases are nonconcordant and require open biopsy. OBJECTIVE To evaluate our experience with the triple test to develop a method to fur...

Triple Test: A ‘One Stop’ Diagnostic Test in Evaluation of Breast Lesions and its Correlation with Histopathology

The aim of this study was to assess the role of Triple Test in preoperative diagnosis of palpable breast lesions and to evaluate performance characteristics of its components individually and combined, keeping histopathological examination as reference standard. A total of 120 cases of palpable breast lesions were studied over a period of five years from 2009 to 2014. These patients were subjec...

Usefulness of three-phase bone scintigraphy and SPECT/CT for the diagnosis of bone lesions of systemic sarcoidosis

We report a three-phase bone scintigraphy for the diagnosis of a peripheral bone lesion caused by systemic sarcoidosis. A 32-year-old man with suspected osteomyelitis of the right forefinger underwent three-phase bone scintigraphy with Tc-99m hydroxymethylene diphosphonate (HMDP) and single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT). The lesion was rich in blood flow acc...
